FAQ’s

What does Kineisology tape do? - We believe that our range of kineisology tapes are simply the best available. When we started Sporttape, it was our sole mission to find the best kinesiology tape for sports men and women. We wanted a tape that could live up to their rigorous demands, enhance performance and aid recovery. Our product range does exactly that.  It allows you to play harder, perform longer and recover quicker.  For more information please click here.

How long will Kinesiology tape stay on? - To be honest it all depends on the application, the usage and the brand. Our tape can remain on for a number of days, as they are water resistant, however we recommend that you keep it on for a maximum of 5 days.  The length of time will vary depending on the area of application.  For example, applying to the calf area can last up to 3 days (more wear and tear) whilst the postural area could last up to 5 days.

The 3 most common reasons that applications come off prematurely:

  1. The practitioner or person who has applied the tape accidentally handled the adhesive when applying the product.

  2. The tape was applied without properly preparing the skin (clean and dry thoroughly).

  3. The tape was not “set” via rubbing the tape post-application to activate the adhesive, and/or the user did not wait approximately one hour after application before engaging in physical activity or getting the tape wet.

Can the applications be re-used? n- All of our kinesiology tape applications and tape are designed for one time use only. The applications are made from a 100% high-grade cotton material that is flexible and breathable and 100% poly-acrylic adhesive.

How do I remove the tape? - Simple… pull the tape off in one sharp movement in the same direction as the hair.

Should I shave before application? - Shaving before applying is not necessary, in fact we think that hair can actually help with the adhesion of our tape!  However, if you prefer we recommend that you trim the hair down rather then a clean shave.

What will happen if I apply incorrectly? - Put simply; nothing. Fortunately if you don’t apply to the correct area, then the tape will have little or no affect so you won’t do any harm to yourself.

Can I apply the tape myself? - You certainly can, our Pre-cut range of tapes mean that it is quick and easy to self apply.  There are areas of the body, which may require some help though such as postural, lower back and shoulder, however we supply clear instructions to follow so anyone can do it.

Can I wear kinesiology tape under compression garments? - Yes you can.

Do the Pre-Cut applications come in different sizes? - At the moment, there is only one size for each of the Pre-Cuts, which will fit approximately 80% of the adult population. Since the therapeutic benefit is via neurological mechanisms, exact sizing is not necessary.

How do Pre-Cuts compare to the rolls in terms of cost? - When the amount of material used to reproduce a pre-cut application from a standard roll is considered along with factoring in the amount of time saved without having to cut the tape to perform a particular application, the two versions of application are comparable price wise. There are additional factors to take into account when comparing the value of the pre-cuts to the standard rolls. The pre-cut applications stay on longer due to the professionally machined cutting of the applications, which prevent the common fraying effect of cutting with scissors, and therefore fewer applications are needed over the course of therapy.

Do the applications come in bulk packaging as well? - Bulk packaging options that are better suited to in-clinical use are under development and will be available shortly. If you would like to contact us about bulk orders, please click here.
