This weekend brought about what was probably the busiest weekend in the history of the SPORTTAPE Academy. 3 courses across 2 days, in 2 cities. Luckily both Rob and Patrick were on hand to lead the days and share their expertise.
On Saturday, Patrick Harding led a great group through our SPORTTAPE: Kinesiology Taping in Sport course from Central London. One of the most common pieces of feedback that we get from our courses is how well our instructors are able to use clinical reasoning to deduce the best application for a specific injury, and challenge the attendees to be more open minded about their use of tape in the clinical setting.
This course was no different as Pat led the group through a series of taping applications, taking the time to emphasize the importance of clinical reasoning. Test before, tape, test after.
Sunday brought a new challenge, as for the first time in SPORTTAPE Academy history we endeavored to teach 2 short courses on the same day. In partnership with Welsh Athletics the morning session consisted of a 3 hours seminar directed at athletes and coaches across a variety of sports, followed by a full CPD session in the afternoon for therapists.
Once again the emphasis was on clinical reasoning when taping, with Rob demonstrating how tape can help to alleviate symptoms of pain and certain muscular impingement. There was of course, plenty of time to put the theory into practice as our courses are 90% practical, empowering everyone that attended to go away and practice their new found skills without becoming over-reliant on taping methods.
Here's what some of this weekend's attendees said about their course experience:
"Previous courses I have attended have not have as much practical time as I was offered here, which was great!"
"Great course and Rob as an instructor was very informative, with detailed presentations of various weaknesses and demonstrations into how the tape works"
"Great day, thoroughly enjoyable. They supported us novices extremely well"
"A great balance between theory and hands-on practice"
Our final SPORTTAPE Academy of the year takes place on 3rd December in Finchley Memorial Hospital, London. For more information, please get in touch.
