This past weekend we took SPORTTAPE on the road once again. Splitting the team across 2 incredible races - the new Swindon Half Marathon and the Cardiff 10k.
This is our second year setting up at the Cardiff 10k and it did not disappoint once again! We were lucky enough to be supported by Lauren O Reilly, a local SMT that we have known for years, who offered free taping and massage in the SPORTTAPE tent. Despite the awful weather than Cardiff unleashed upon us we still taped and massaged over 50 runners!
Tom was also on hand to offer some last minute advice to the runners. Being a sub 30 minute 10k runner himself he was the perfect choice to talk race tactics and how to get the most from taping!
The Swindon Half Marathon has gone through a resurgence this year after it looked like it was gone for good. Thanks to a lot of planning Swindon saw over 3000 runners hit the streets and it was awesome to be there. A huge thanks to Danny Clayton of DC Injury Clinic for inviting us to come down and set up. Although the rain held off a little better than Cardiff we were still grateful for out giant SPORTTAPE tent!
It was incredible to see such excitement around a race and definitely made me want to change into some shorts and join the masses on the start line! I talked to so many runners who were running their first half-marathon, and hopefully offered a little inspiration too. We were also rushed off our feet for pre-race taping (mostly knee, IT band and plantar fascia applications - ones I know all too well!) with 35 applications done.
All-in-all, we had a pretty awesome Sunday. Thanks to everyone involved!
