Using SPORTTAPE: A First Hand Account

Hey guys! I recently wrote a blog introducing myself, but for those of you who don’t know me... I’m Charlie, and I’ve been working with SPORTTAPE as a marketing intern since November 2016.

As you can probably tell from their previous blog posts, both Tom and Ieuan have been on some exciting adventures across continents, both with SPORTTAPE and in their pursuit of achieving World and Commonwealth qualifying standards. I'm a runner too although I prefer stay in the UK, quietly plugging away with my training so I can one day hope to get to their level!

I train every day, hitting anywhere between 65-85 miles per week consistently throughout the year. It goes without saying, this is a bit of a grind alongside university studies and working near enough full time. Quite often you just can’t physically push your body through it all on your own, and this is where SPORTTAPE comes in!

The first time I came across SPORTTAPE was last summer. I was warming up for my session at Cardiff International Athletics Stadium and both of my calves were in a struggling with a little pain and tightness, stemming from the achilles.

I was fortunate enough that Ieuan was promoting SPORTTAPE at the Welsh Athletics Championships in the stadium itself. He gave me some Flex Kinesiology tape and explained how to self-apply a simple I-strip over both of my achilles and calf muscles. I dried the legs down, used some TAPEON and continued warming up as normal. Incredibly I got through my session without any pain. I couldn't believe that we'd managed to get the tape to stick halfway through my warm up, let alone that it lasted through the whole session and made such a huge difference to my calf pain! I was a SPORTTAPE convert from that point on and continued using SPORTTAPE Flex to help rehab my calf.

I have continued to use SPORTTAPE Kinesiology Tape in various applications since then if and when i felt I needed it, or my physio advised me to. Most recently I used the Lumbar Spine taping application to help relieve some stiffness in my lower back caused by the physical demands of the cross country season. It worked a treat once again, staying put for a solid 5 days!
